LODGING

The Winterthur Museum is located just outside of Wilmington, Delaware, in the scenic and historic Brandywine Valley. There is no on-site lodging for visitors, and there is no "host" hotel for the symposium since the entire program will take place at the museum and at the nearby Wilmington Country Club.

Many inns and hotels, in a range of costs and amenities, are a short drive from the museum. Attendees should contact them directly for reservations. Special rates (per night, plus tax) are posted here if offered to our group. Please note that some are in downtown Wilmington, others are in nearby suburban areas.

People traveling by air should arrive via Philadelphia International Airport 25 miles distance.

The symposium dates cover a holiday weekend, so making reservations early is recommended. Discounted room rates are offered on a space-available basis only until September 5.

PLEASE NOTE: Driving is required from all hotels to the Winterthur estate; there is no public transit, and only two hotels at this time offers shuttle service. To assist out-of-town guests without cars, please inform Bob Frishman, bell-time@comcast.net or 978-475-5001, if you will have a car and would be available to offer rides to your fellow attendees.
